About our logo

Protocure is a european research project: 'Improving medical protocols by formal methods'.

The acronym Protocure comes from Protocol and Cure. The Logo emphasizes this two concepts by giving different font style to each part of the word. These fonts are original and unique, made specially for this logo.

'Proto' is cubic, computer-like, made of solid building blocks, and evokes technology and structure. 'Cure' is rounded, human handwriting-like, warm, and evokes humankind, medical science and health care. Both have a 3D look, to express future and progress aspects.

The icon is an abstraction of The Vitruvius Man by Leonardo Da Vinci, which gives a vision of man as the centre of universe, being inscribed in a circle and in a square. Also, it is a representation of human measurements and proportions.

That has to do with medicine, and also with methodology and quantifying, key concepts in the Protocure project.

The logo comes in blue-green-grey colors in the cool range denoting medicine and technology. The greyscale version is to be used in black ink documents.
